i dont know why but to me it sounds better with subs facing in i dont like all the rattling in the back when its bouncing off everything maybe its just me.
yup ...they sound great, still havent fully let them go yet though...the gain still isnt set right....right now its at about a little over 1/2.....and ive only turned it up to 26 out of 34 a couple of times.and ive had it hooked up for about a month
you shouldn't turn your gain up anymore. im pretty sure that headunit has 2v preouts and the gain goes from 340mv-10v so if its a little more than half its around 5v right now. you need to match that to your headunit (2v) your probably sending a clipped signal right now.
i havent noticed any clipping, you think i should get a new HU? didnt you have a sony HU like mine Matt F? could you explain to me how i would benefit from a HU with higher Volt preouts
clipping isnt really heard or hard to hear. i never had a sony hu, pioneer premier.. i dont know what the benifits of a hu w/ highter preouts maybe someone else does? im pretty sure that higher is definitely better tho.
i'd face the subs in to the cabin too. box that big, it would be easy to seal the sides. you would gain alot more spl that way. if you don't believe me then just try it please. you'll know what i am talking about.
normaly i too would say face backwards but from the pix it seems like the size of that box will block most or the waves resonating back into the car - but try facing it 4ward with the box far back as possible & let us know if the sound improves
alright...ill try it sometime...but its a real tight fit.....i had to raise my 6x9s just to fit a 14 1/2" box in there!!! i had to put it in through the back seat opening and its just really alkward. got to have atleast 2 people.
OK. I did it today : turned my box around and did a few other thing....eliminated some rattles etc. It is probably a few DBs louder...i havent filled in the space around the box yet to block off the trunk. will doing that make much of a difference?
