Ok im comfused on this some amps say theyll produce 120 watts ( rms power) into 12.5 volts but then it says 175 watts rms in 14.5 volts Whats the deal with that? can u choose to have it playing at 12.5 or 14.5 volts

lol...no the charging system isn't always predictable...12.5 is the lowest it usually goes, but 14.5 is more the norm. If i'm wrong someone plz correct me

13-14.4 is the normal Voltage of a charging system without accesories.

It is also saying that as the voltage gets lower it will produce less. That is why the battery, alternator, and cabling are huge players in what your stereo does and can do.

Keep in mind that most amps will never ever reach there maximum rating, usually it will only be about 1/2 to 3/4 of that, refered to as RMS rating.
If your car is running steady below 13.0 volts then you have problem with the Battery not taking the charge, the alternator not charging enough, or corrsion blocking the flow.
