just curious but if my head unit plays at 55wats max and 17 RMS...and i get an amplifier that plays 17 rms.....is it gonna be any louder or is it the same exact thing lol i was just curoius cause i seen one in autozone and ofund it hysterical
no budget!!! i dont wanna buy it! lol i have a system already i just am CURIOIUSSSSSS... would a 17 RMS watt amp have an affect on a headunit that plays at 17 watts RMS already
HU's 17w rms is not the same as the amp's power. HUs distort way before reaching 17w. This is why the amp always sound better and cleaner. Of course there are always some exceptions.
I read an article yesterday about a "amp" rated at 150 watts only put out 10 watts, and by installing it in a system with a 15watt HU, it cut the output by 5 watts. So I quess an amp will just take a signal, and amp it to its ability, weather its 10 watts, or 10,000 watts. But I'm not positive if it will down size a signal, But it does make sence.
