MB and Kappas. Sounds like you are on the right track.
Take some CDs you know well and make sure you turn off all tone controls, mega bass, stereo enhance, EQ etc. You will be suprised how flat speakers sound when driven... flat. That's when you can realy tell how they sound.

I just had some Alpine components installed in the front of my truck & they sound great! All the above are good sound though.

Have you ever heard of Eclipse by Fijisu-Ten? I just bought some 6x9 by them they are 97dB efficient. Higher than Infinities! They are 3way. They have nice highs they suprised me and good mid rang. I have 2 15 Alpine Type R subs on a 1200 watt Pheonix Gold amp and they make the perfect match with all that low bass.

IF YOU WANT THE BEST SPEAKERS POSSIBLE GET SOME MEMPHIS SPEAKERS!
KEF is good if you can find them, but they are based in England, and stopped making car products years ago. Most of KEF's car stuff is only found on eBay these days. My main home speakers are KEFs though. They make terrific stuff if you have the money for them.
