Hey everyone, I"ve got a 88 VW Jetta and the super cool factory tape deck doesn't work anymore. So I think I'll join the rest of the world and put in a stereo. I'm a single mom of a two year old and I have managed to follow fisherprice toy instructions so I"m hoping I can do this...ANYONE got the know how and wanna hook me up?

If they don't sell the above pictured harness for your car, here is the wiring diagram for an 88 Jetta:
Constant 12V+ Red
Switched 12V+ n/a
Ground Brown
Illumination Gray/Blue
Dimmer n/a
Antenna Trigger White
Antenna Left Front
Front Speakers 3 1/2" Dash
Left Front (+) Blue
Left Front (-) Brown/Blue
Right Front (+) Red
Right Front (-) Brown/White
Rear Speakers 6 1/2" Rear Deck
Left Rear (+) Blue/Green
Left Rear (-) Brown/Red
Right Rear (+) Red/Green
Right Rear (-) Brown/Black

And this is the diagram for the aftermarket head unit you'll be hooking up:Upload

All you have to do is match wires. Piece of cake.

I hate having to get the soldering iron out plus extension cord for the plug. Then you also have the added burden of shrink wrapping the cable. Crimping is my favorite method by far.
