I was told if my alternator is not putting out enough power the amp does that.. is that true? |
New member Username: Json_35010Alexander City, AL USA Post Number: 5 Registered: Jul-06 | Have you tried to power the unit without anything connected to it (other than power of course). The unit should power up no problem, regardless of alternator. Just at idle a good working unit shouldn't pull over 2-3 amps. If you still get the fault with just the amp powered up, then you have an amp problem. If not, start connecting everything back up one device at a time until the problem returns. This will help you figure your problem out. Also, make sure to check your wiring. Especially your ground. Jason www.audiotekx.com |
New member Username: FuryousMiami, FL USA Post Number: 6 Registered: Aug-06 | Definitely sounds like a grounding issue- even with your engine not running the alternator this would not be a problem. Try running a new ground wire (even if just temporary) to see if it solves your problem. |
