What are the best subwoofers that you can acually drive around with? Keep in mind that I still want to be able to hear when im 50.

everyone can be heard with any subs in there car. the question is how far away do you want to be heard?

I wanna be heard for like four of five blocks, I like alpine but are the type-R's worth it or even the Type-X

If you're REALLY SERIOUS, go to each one's website and check out the flagship model subwoofer each company has to offer. Each company mentioned has flagship subs that exceed the quality AND performance of most others.
Of course there are others as well, but you get the idea, right?

IF you are going to put 1000 dollars into subs and a good box, you being able to hear when your 50 is out of the question.

whenever i think im blowing my eardrums, i just think they make hearing aids for a reason, it makes me feel better, u may have to try it...
