Say you have a 1,000 watts RMS sub (accuratly rated) and you give it 800 watts RMS... And you also have the same sub and you give it 1,000 watts RMS... The one with more watts is going to be very slightly louder... I would have to say its not worth spending all the extra money for a bigger amp and alternator and all that for say 3db lol.. You would be better off having say 2 subwoofers at say 60% their rated power than 1 subwoofer at its full rated power.

Both subs would have to be wired together is series to create a 4 ohm load for the amp to be bridged and ran at 4 ohms. But brad you would be better off wiring the subs in parallel for a 1 ohm load and buy an amp between 2000 and 2400wrms at 1 ohm.
