Wednesday, August 02, 2006 - 09:27 GMT Another thing you could consider is wiring those subs down to 1 ohm and that would save you money on an amp im sure.

Wednesday, August 02, 2006 - 23:14 GMT Only if you bought an amp that wasnt one ohm stable, but many are. If you want a hifonics amp an XX hercules is 2000w x1 at 1 ohm, and it should be cheaper than the colossus.

Wednesday, August 02, 2006 - 23:18 GMT orion 2500d would be perfect for those subs. you can wire them down to 1 ohm and the amp is one ohm stable.

Thursday, August 03, 2006 - 04:47 GMT Personally, I have found that the RMS rating on a speaker doesn't need to be reached to make them thump. Say you have a 1,000 watts RMS sub (accuratly rated) and you give it 800 watts RMS... And you also have the same sub and you give it 1,000 watts RMS... The one with more watts is going to be very slightly louder... I would have to say its not worth spending all the extra money for a bigger amp and alternator and all that for say 3db lol.. You would be better off having say 2 subwoofers at say 60% their rated power than 1 subwoofer at its full rated power.

Thursday, August 03, 2006 - 06:33 GMT Mark your wrong, that amp would work yes, but not with the subs wired the way you said. Both subs would have to be wired together is series to create a 4 ohm load for the amp to be bridged and ran at 4 ohms. But brad you would be better off wiring the subs in parallel for a 1 ohm load and buy an amp between 2000 and 2400wrms at 1 ohm.

Thursday, August 03, 2006 - 15:40 GMT if you want some serious output from the type X you need to give them more that 1000wrms a piece. i know cause i used to own a pair. i had 2 jl 1000/1 going to 2 type Xs. don't get me wrong, it was loud and the sq was excellent. but i felt that it can get louder for my taste.
