Terk XMDFDK consists of the harness, receiver, and digital interface.
The head unit in the vehicle has a 'SAT' button. The installation/owners manual reads well and installation was simple but when finished, the SAT button still produces a NO SAT message. This is not a 'no signal' message and the radio is activated.
There is some confusion online about whether these are compatible with all Escapes in 2005 so we invested and tried anyway.
We found obscure references as to the wiring harness on the 2005 Ford Escape (not the a-m kit) being altered in the design at some point in the Ford factory.
We do not want to switch to Sirius...
Can anyone relay good info on this after-market? Also does anyone know how to rewire the Terk harness? A 2005 Ford Escape Radio code 8 wiring schematic would be great! Terk's Tech Support is evasive, I think because the product may be hit or miss with the 2005s.
There were at least 3 radios installed in 2005 and ours is the SAT radio without MP3, just 6xCD. It's called MACH 300
