Silver Member Username: KaerfplSpencerport, NY USA Post Number: 298 Registered: Jun-06 | I was originally going to be getting the Alpine amp for my subs but then I did some research and found out the Soundstream amps are pretty good and pump out what they say they are rated at. The SoundStream amp is $20 cheaper and 2-channel but the Alpine is a mono block and will give me 20 more watts. I will be using one of these amps to power two subs rated at 150 watts RMS, SVC. Which would be the better buy? The Alpine amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6470.html The SoundStream amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5423.html |

Silver Member Username: KaerfplSpencerport, NY USA Post Number: 319 Registered: Jun-06 | Wait wait wait...hold on a second Steven. Why wouldn't the SoundStream amp work? I was planning on using each channel to each sub to make it a 2 0hm load so each one would be getting 180 watts. Each sub is 150 watts RMS so why wouldn't it work? I don't like going on ebay too much. Ive been scammed a couple times so I don't mind if I pay alittle extra. |
Silver Member Username: StnorrisEldridge, IA US Post Number: 894 Registered: Apr-06 | if you dont bridge it, all you can get is 180rms total, 90 to each sub. 110 Watts x 2 Channels @ 4 Ohms 180 Watts x 2 Channels @ 2 Ohms 360 Watts x 1 Channel @ 4 Ohms if your subs wire to a 2 ohm load, all you can do is the middle one^^^. if you had dual 4 ohm subs, you could the one at the bottom and get 180 to each. |

Silver Member Username: KaerfplSpencerport, NY USA Post Number: 323 Registered: Jun-06 | Well, I guess this amp will do fine with my rear speakers then, lol. There 80 watts RMS and a extra 10 watts can't kill. |

Silver Member Username: KaerfplSpencerport, NY USA Post Number: 326 Registered: Jun-06 | Would decreasing the watts going to my speakers by 5 watts help my speakers from not overloading or overheating or would that not make a difference at all? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5400.html |
Silver Member Username: StnorrisEldridge, IA US Post Number: 913 Registered: Apr-06 | i dont think it would make a difference, but im no expert on speakers. your speakers should be fine though, with that amp. your not going to be turning the volume knob to full all the time |
Silver Member Username: AdddisorderWest palm, Florida Post Number: 461 Registered: Jan-06 | joe it wouldnt make a difference, i dotn know what kind of speakers you have so i wouldnt recomend it but im going to be over powering mine by more then double 150rms instead of 70rms that their rated some speakers can handel alot and some cant but 5rms isnt going to make a difference |
