When I first had my setup in my truck I had it done at a local audio store but now than I'm piecing it together with what I have I realize I've got the wrong amp. It is a Cerwin Vega EXL 1000d but it is only stable at 2ohm bridged in mono mode. Because It is a two channel amp can I wire each channel into each voice coil of the sub. The sub is an RE SX. It is stable for 1ohm off each channel in stereo mode so would that work or how else am I going to have to wire it? I can't afford to buy a new amp that is why I'm using what I have unless someone needs an amp I'd sell or trade this one..
looks like there is really no other way of connecting to that amp unless you want to see if it can handle 1ohm bridged. or you can underpower the sub by connecting it 4ohms.
well the way it was wired before by the audio shop was 1 channel per VC .. i think the reason it was done that way was actually because it goes into safety wired at 1ohm
of course that is bridged. on the amp itself it says each channel is 1ohm stable and bridged its 2ohm. thats all i really know. i don't know the rating for other ohm loads
you really don't have any. you said the amp goes into protection when you wire it to 1ohm.
you can either wire each vc like it was or wire your subs at 4ohms (which will be less power). either way you won't be seeing the full power of that amp. you need to change your amp.
lol, can you two imagine having this conversation in a store around people..."WTF are they talking about?" lol But just reading, you 2 just taught me something new!
