New member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 1 Registered: Jun-06 | I just bought an 06' Kicker S15L7 sub, but hooked up to a Fosgate P6002 amp. It says im puttin out around 600 RMS but is rated low. I wanna put out as close to the 1000 RMS the S15L7 has to offer, but i think i need a new amp. Any suggestions?? |

Gold Member Username: TjmutlowPost Number: 2401 Registered: Sep-05 | if that it a dual 4 ohm sub use a mono 2 ohm stable amp, like the zx series amps from kicker or a Alpine 1005, or a Pheonx gold Xeon series or a JL. if dual 2 ohm then a strong 1 ohm stable amp, like the sx 1250.1 or last years kx 1200.1or a JBL 1200.1 |
Gold Member Username: TjmutlowPost Number: 2403 Registered: Sep-05 | or Memphis 1000d if dual 2 also |
New member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 2 Registered: Jun-06 | Yea its a 2-ohm DVC sub so I was thinking about either the Kicker 1200.1 or the JBL 1200.1 Which do you think will be cheaper and deliver the most bang for the buck |
New member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 3 Registered: Jun-06 | I was wondering if a Kicker ZX 1000.1 mono amp would suit my S15L7 well. any input? |
New member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 4 Registered: Jun-06 | you guys think i'd need a capacitor on my current setup, with the Fosgate P6002 powering it. The headlights dim every time the bass hits hard in my 01 eclipse. |
Gold Member Username: James1115Ct Post Number: 5982 Registered: Dec-04 | I can get you a killer deal on that zx 1000.1 if you are interested. Hit me off on AIM jlongo1115 |
Gold Member Username: TjmutlowPost Number: 2423 Registered: Sep-05 | unless that sub is a dual 4ohm speaker the zx series amp will not work for. since the dual 2 and using 1 sub, i actually would put a memphis befopre those other amps.... |
Silver Member Username: JuliobSanto DomingoDominican Re... Post Number: 825 Registered: Dec-05 | nicky you don't need a capacitor, what you need is an HO alt. Get an amp that puts out 1000-1300w at 1 ohm. Ed nine 1, Mb quar raa 1000, viper 1200.1, jl 1000/1 pg xenon 1200.1, directed d2400, autotek 1000d, talk to be for that one. |
Silver Member Username: JuliobSanto DomingoDominican Re... Post Number: 826 Registered: Dec-05 | can't go wrong with hifonics jeje get the 1606d and turn the gain down in case of budget |
New member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 6 Registered: Jun-06 | Why wouldn't the Kicker ZX 1000.1 be a good amp for my sub? |
Silver Member Username: JuliobSanto DomingoDominican Re... Post Number: 830 Registered: Dec-05 | cuz your sub is dual 2 ohm and can only be wired at 1 or 4 ohms so it's useless in your case, try getting ED nine1, it's underrated and has 3 year warranty |
Bronze Member Username: LordvicadinPost Number: 33 Registered: Jun-06 | yeah dude u need another alt. a cap wil help but only so much . yer talkin 1 kilowat amps here and u need atleast a 1 ferad cap ( 1.5 would be good too ) and a little trick sum folks maynot know is to ground the altornator whit the same wire size as the power to a good ground ( not on the engine) |
New member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 7 Registered: Jun-06 | you really think another alt. is necessary man? |
Silver Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 871 Registered: Feb-06 | yeah, the cap. wont help at all. get a ho alt. |

New member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 9 Registered: Jun-06 | so overall, you guys think a h/o alt. and lets say a jl 1000/1 would suit my system pretty well? Also would the stock infinity speakers in the eclipse be enough to handle all the power? |
Gold Member Username: Dustin3Tigard, Or U.S. Post Number: 1828 Registered: Oct-05 | yes. the jl will suit it really well. For me, it would be between the 1000/1 or the memphis. Are you amping ur speakers? or do you mean, will the eclipse HU power my speakers well?... |
Bronze Member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 11 Registered: Jun-06 | no i just mean, will my sub be too loud to hear the speakers or should i upgrade speakers and get components as well |
Bronze Member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 12 Registered: Jun-06 | also, are memphis amps more expensive than jl because i wouldnt mind getting one of those instead |
Gold Member Username: Dustin3Tigard, Or U.S. Post Number: 1839 Registered: Oct-05 | http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Memphis-subwoofer-amplifier-16-ST1000D1000w-1ohm_ W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38638QQihZ019QQitemZ8076974613QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/category.asp?cat=3 and ur speakers should be able to do fine. I have just some reg. coaxials up front and i change my HU so that i am fading more toward the front of the car so i can hear the volcals really well. |
Bronze Member Username: Nickyp0219Post Number: 15 Registered: Jun-06 | you think the memphis Power Reference 1000 Watt mono block amp would work with the s15l7 dvc 2-ohm sub |
