Wiring question

Bronze Member Username: HalbyParsippany, NJ Post Number: 96 Registered: Jun-05 | I'm about to install my system and I had a few questions about the gauge of the wire and some other general wiring q's(I have a 350 RMS @ 4 ohms MTX sub amp and a 75 x 2 RMS @ 2 0hm JL amp for my speakers up front.): 1) I have two amps so I need 2 dist blocks, 1 power and 1 ground to wire properly? And what type(not brand) of blocks do I need? 2) I already have a 4 gauge wiring kit that I bought for my sub before I decided to get speakers. The JL amp manual recommends 8 guage unless hooked up to another amp. Should I buy another 4 gauge set of wires for the JL and a 2 gauge to wire to the battery and ground? or SHould I use 8 gauge for the smaller amp? 3)The sub amp wiring kit came with a 150A fuse, is that sufficient? Any help is appreciated, thanks. |

New member Username: MattysegaMelbourneAustralia Post Number: 1 Registered: Jul-06 | personally i would run a length of 4 guage from the battery to a splitter (1x4g to 2x8g) then to the respective amps. You COULD do the same thing for the earth but would recomend running separate 8g cables to ground. |

Bronze Member Username: Tcox_16Post Number: 15 Registered: Jul-06 | Does anyone know where i can get wiring diagrams for my 2003 Dodge Durango...because i need to figure out what color wire go's from the ignition key to the stereo..because i need to hook up my remote turn on wire that comes from my new amplifier......and one more question....can i just splice into my rear speakers with speaker wire and then get a y connector with RCA's...and then just plug that into the RCA ports on the amp...or will that even work...anyone that can answer any of these questions for me it would be a great help....thanx |
