May 22, 2006 At the Steel Valley Regionals in Chester, West Virginia, the debut of the new TS-W5102SPL subwoofers was a "booming" success, Scott Owens and the Team Edge Audio/Pioneer Ford F-250 set a new dB Drag Racing World Record of 179.2dB.
So i dont get it, in theory wouldnt it be like.... ok so the audiobahns i have say they do like 95db i think, so 95+95=190db? with em powered all the way...? saying they were rated right because i seene plenty of big speakers with those high ratings but i never see people gettin higher then like 179 and thats with a bunch of subs.... ??? how does it not work like that? they dont turn there stuff up enough?
Umm thats not the rating for how loud the sub is, i may be wrong but i believe its for senativity or something. Either way many subs alone can do 130-140db even if it says 80 or 90 on them. Also by addind a second sub you usally just add 3db.
Nemanja, 1/3? Did you pull that number out of left field or what? Anytime you add a woofer, double your power, or go sealed to ported, ON PAPER you should gain 3 DB. This does not always occur.
sorry misprinted... Example: we have DD Z1 amps. 1sub 15" @ 1ohm gives us 147db VS 2 subs 15" 149.6
Ok for this combo
Example 2: DD z1 and 2x TREO SSX 12" 151.3 2xZ1 and 2xSSX 151.6
Why?
Well that's why I said that if adding another sub you need a bit more power to get those exact 3db's and sometimes no matter what you do, you won't even get 1db! We have also tested jbl 1202 gto, alpine type X, and waiting for a pair of DD 9510's... should be fun
That's my expiriance but you're right about theory and that 3db gain
