If i have a 1000rms and 2000 peak sub.. will i need a capacitor or somthin?

the sub doesn't decide whether you need a capacitor or not, because it doesn't pull any power from the charging system, the amp does. general rule for a capacitor is 1 Farad per every 1000 watts. but if you do not already have a HO Alternator, then a capacitor can cause more harm then good. if you are pulling 1000+ watts, then you definally need a HO Alt. and there is no replacement for a good quality HO Alternator.

i have a 1997 Ford Escort with 2 12inch kicker cvr and a 1600 watt American Legacy amp and i was wondering if i needed a 1.5 frad capacitor or not?

oh ok so i should get a ho altonator and a 1 farad cap? And the amp Iam gettin is a kicker zx1000..(1000rms)(2000peak)

no joey, because ur amp only really puts out around 100rms......

Well i went out and bought a .5 frad capacitor and an amp kit would hit help anyways with haveing it so i dont haveing diming light and i heard it gives u better bass respons

We get your point - but in all honesty - the rms rating of a 1600w Legacy is going to be around 400w, and it would probably be pretty close to that.

I would agree that a cap wouldn't be worth messing with. Then again, I don't think they're ever worth messing with.
