Bronze Member Username: Dlenz4437Post Number: 49 Registered: Mar-06 | ohm are the resistance of electricity running thru the subs, and most subs are sual voice coil (dvc). lets say you have a dvc 4 ohm sub, that means each voice coil is ran at 4 ohms. you can either run them in paralel together which would make a load of 2 ohms or wire the voice coils in series which would make a load of 8 ohms. and with a dvc 2 ohm sub you can do the same in 1 or 4 ohms. check this site how, it might help http://www.caraudiohelp.com/ohms_law/ohms_law.htm |

Bronze Member Username: BobimpactPost Number: 11 Registered: May-06 | Might I suggest professional install, Ohms law can get tricky if you don't understand it, loading an amp down too low can cause all kinds of issues, and screwing up wiring on a sub can dead short it. Also, depending on the sub you may be able to get a single voice coil configuration. Performace is rarely affected if you pair the right amp with it, talk to you local shop, they can help you in selecting the right amp/sub combo. |
