Tuesday, May 30, 2006 - 04:27 GMT Sup i wuz wondering, in u have say 2 cuft volume inside an enclosure and thats the airspace u need for a sub and u wanna add a port, the port takes space also right so that will bring down the volume of airspace inside, so how do u figure how much space a PVC port takes up inside an enclosure?? Thanx peeps.

Tuesday, May 30, 2006 - 05:53 GMT pi * radius^2 * port length = port displacment you have to factor this displacment into you box caluculations...you tune a box based on 'net' volume, not 'gross'

Tuesday, May 30, 2006 - 21:37 GMT TJ, it would be: 3.14 x (1.5^2) x 9.95 = 70.297 cu inches 70.297 / 1728 = ~.04 cu ft i'm guessing this box is for either 1 10" or 1 12"...so i'm goint to estimate 0.06cuft for sub displacment. that will make your box ~1.9cuft net tuned to ~29hz. ps... w/ a 12.75" long 4" port the box will be 1.85cuft net tuned to 34hz.
