Well i was riding down the highway today and came to a stop off of the exit and my cab filled with smoke. I took my subs out of my box and they were both blown. On one of the subs the voice coil came undone, and on the other the cone came apart from the coil. So now i guess im just gonna get some good components and call it good ive blown too much money on subs. Any suggestions? i have a 2003 dodge ram. I also have a ppi four channel amp.
my only guess is that you wired the subs to an impedence below 4 ohm and connected each to 2 channels bridged, (which usually can only take 4 ohm bridged). otherwise, if your wirings correct, you probably have the gains to far up.
I ran it off of a mb quart raa1000. Class d mono block running 1000watts rms at 1ohm. I had both of them wired to a two ohm load going into the amp for a final impedence of 1ohm. Yeh the gains might have been a tad too high.
i have ur same subs/amp combo & it always slammed sweetly & never distorted - my guess is ur settings were off or u had electrical problems & clipped them 2 death .......
