RG6 in a car?

I am starting a new thread because I think that my new question is an entirely different topic.

Anyways...I had a sick thought today.
Why you ask? Well, I spent this last weekend running wire in the car. I had a good part of the interior out so I could do it right.
And now I am going to have to run a pre-amp signal from the HU to the amp...DOH!!!

At first I was thinking about putting RCA plugs on the wire I put in but speaker wire is not sheilded and I think that RCA cables are supposed to be sheilded. That is correct...right?

So..if I need to run sheilded cable for the pre-amp signal...I can go two ways and am curious what way is generally prefered and why.

I can go out and buy RCA cables.

I can also build RCA cables using RG6 coax.
It is sheilded also and pretty durable to the elements.

What is everybodys thoughts on this?

I dont know about RG6 but this is what I used http://www.gepco.com/products/proav_cable/analog_audio/multi_gf22.htm
that is what we use in recording studios so I figure if it is good enough for a recording studio it is good enough for my jeep :-)

I'm with Maris on this one...just get some RCA cable. Why use coaxial in the first place? The coaxial could work, however. You might as well try it, noise shouldn't be a problem.

Chris,

I wouldnt say that whatever a recording studio uses, and/or does should be used as a benchmark.

I have quality CDs and crappy recorded CDs.

Guess what. They were both recorded in recording studios.

One just plainly sounds better than the other one.

IMHO I would use audio speaker wire.

Thanks all...
Here is why I was thinking RG6...
RG6=16 guage wire (higher than most rca cables).
RG6 is sheilded just as well as Monster cable, etc...
RG6 is VERY durable and weather resistant.
And I can install RG6 with the tips for less than half of what Monster Cable, etc. would cost me.

Since it is every bit as good and so much less, I was wondering why I had not heard more about people doing this.

mixneffect ...
I am very curious...
Why would you choose audio speaker wire since it is not sheilded?

Do you think that this is simply overkill?

Thanks

I meant audio speaker cable as a general term. I did not mean speaker wire. RG6 is what I would consider cable tv cable. Sorry for the confusion.
