I have 2 12 cvrs in a dual ported box (seperated chambers) tuned at 38 hz. The box is only about 1.8 cubic feet per chamber. I think my box is giving off a port noise. Someone mentioned this to me before, and i want to figure out if that is the problem.

If your box is makeing noise then you need a new box because something came loose.
But if that happens you will notice a distinct sound will come from the port kinda like (simply put) 2 pieces of MDF vibrating together, or it could be a air leak in your seams.

ports are slotted.....the box is brand new....is sealed really well on the inside. Would i be able to notice by looking at it if 2 pieces of mdf were vibrating together?

I remember when i made 1 slotted enclosure for 1 of my cvrs i was powering it with alot of power and my port wall came loose and was making a loud weird annoying noise so that might be the problem.

Did you build or buy the box?

You would not be able to tell by looking.

Another thing, are your wires touching the bottom of the box? That could cause a bit of noise.

Well I hope you figure it out.
and I would check for other possible rattles in your car, Maybe something is rattling near your box.

if a slot port doesnt have enough surface area, it will have turbulance within the port and sound like a plastic bad crackling, i think thats what he wants to know, its because too much air is trying to come out of a small area and it bounces off the walls and then varies in diretion a little

how big is your port? and what subs do you have?
