That's if it is what they say http://dynamicsoundcaraudio.net/item.cfm?product_id=755 That's very cheap if it is as good as the specs say it is. Their comps are super cheap as well. But I wouldn't buy it without listening to it. |

Silver Member Username: Alias747MN Post Number: 926 Registered: Apr-05 | Hey B, the Arsenal 15" has a 2.5" voice coil. What's wrong with that? |
Gold Member Username: B101Queen City, NC USA Post Number: 2877 Registered: Sep-05 | whats wrong with that, is that the coils will heat up pretty darn quick when u throw some power @ it... especially serious power.... subs ratings are normally rated by the coils, windings and length... |

Gold Member Username: B101Queen City, NC USA Post Number: 2878 Registered: Sep-05 | has nothing to do with tripple rms ratings, more to do with THERMAL HANDLING and PHYSICS... why does a 10" SSI have a 3" voice coil?? hmmm or why does a 15" SSX have a 4" coil?? my 15" TSX has 3" coils... the 12" TSXs have 2.5" coils.. now why would I want a 15" with 2.5" coils?? from experience?? |
Silver Member Username: LewassBoomfield Hills, MI USA Post Number: 727 Registered: Jan-06 | I have 2.5" VC's in my 10's, they are rated at 300 rms each. That sub is a 15" with a 2.5" VC, and it's rated at 1000 rms. Sounds like it will blow faster than a mofo! (pun intended) |
Silver Member Username: Alias747MN Post Number: 927 Registered: Apr-05 | SO that makes an Arsenal bad??!! I thought they were really good subs! |
Silver Member Username: LewassBoomfield Hills, MI USA Post Number: 728 Registered: Jan-06 | There is nothing wrong with any size coil in terms of performance, and one isn't better than the other, but one will handle much more RMS watts than the other So if your arsenal is rated at 400 RMS, that's perfectly fine on a 2.5" VC. Compare that to 1000 RMS on the same size coil, and you can imagine how it would overheat and burn up easily. |
Silver Member Username: LewassBoomfield Hills, MI USA Post Number: 729 Registered: Jan-06 | Ok so it's rated at 600 rms for the 15, I was just guessing 400... But still, use that as a benchmark for what a reputable company offering a real warranty thinks is acceptable thermal power handling for a 2.5 voice coil. |
Silver Member Username: Alias747MN Post Number: 930 Registered: Apr-05 | Well, I don't have a Arsenal, but the Arsenal 15" has a 2.5" vc and it is rated for 750 wrms. I am just curious. |
