High Output Alternator ?...

I am installing one JL Audio 10W7 that should run at 500W RMS. It will be powered by a Kenwood KAC-9152D that should push 500W RMS @ 4 ohms. I am installing into a 2001 Cadillac DHS. Will my factory alternator do the job. Since its a class D amp, is there no need for a cap?

any replies or emails - much appreciated.

no man, factory will be fine, it is said that you can normally go up to 1000 watts rms before you need an HO alternator...everything will be fine without a cap, caps help a little but they dont give you a any difference in sound. they just help keep the current flow regular.you wouldnt notice a difference in sound or anything

amp has followings specs listed:

2 X 30 amp power supply fuses
500 Watts x 1 max (4 ohms) RMS
900 Watts x 1 (2 ohms) RMS
900 Watts x 1 (1 ohms) RMS

how do I wire it to run at more than 500W RMS
and then would I need an expensive ho alternator?

anyone know how the 10" Hypnotic sub compares to a
JL Audio 10W7?

ur electrical current will run alot smoother if u dont and u wont have to worry about gaps in music (if not getting sufficient power supply) and of course, the dimming of the light. But with 500 rms u shouldnt have to worry about it because thats not enough watts to really do anyting. i have 800 runnin of stock alt, and no problems so i really depends on the car.

i would have gotten a better amp too. if ur gettin a NICE SUB, GET A NICE AMP. you would be so much happier because for one, the amp is rated at 14.4 volts and for 2, it wont put 500 out @ 4 ohms. can u trade it in or anything?

no- i am a network engineer for a school district.

I am only planning on one sub
will the one sub pound with this amp, if not, does any one have a good amp recomendation for one JL Audio 10W7?

If I would ever get a second sub (probably not)
I planned on just getting aonther amp and sub, probably the same amp and sub.

i think then i would probably need a new alternator.

here are the specs on the kenwood kac9152d
1,800 Watts max power
500 Watts x 1 max (4 ohms) RMS
900 Watts x 1 (2 ohms) RMS
900 Watts x 1 (1 ohms) RMS

is the orion HCCA-D1200 better, why?
1200W Class D Mono Amplifier
RMS @ 4 Ohm: 1 x 250
RMS @ 2 Ohm: 1 x 400
RMS @ 1 Ohm: 1 x 600

thnx

first of all, orion is a great amplifier company and they always put out the rms they say they do. they dont overheat and they are reliable. i would want to put 600 watts into that 10w7 of your because it will sound great. 500 watts (as the kenwood) thats prob. doesnt even put out that means that u will be gettin less that the recc. rms.

wut is the configuration on ur SUB? ohms, voice coil...

its prob 3 ohm single. i dont know if there is a DVC 3 ohm sub?... if its single 3 ohm just wire it to 3 ohms. thats why a jl 500/1 would work well because u can wire them from a 1.5-4 ohm load, and still get 500 watts
