Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2960 Registered: Mar-04 | ok...i finally got building these thing down pretty well. here are some pics of the first batch: http://www.putfile.com/marshall_white/images the 6" ports are flared to 8 3/8"...the black stuff on the inside of the port is from the torch i had to use to heat the pipe, i am going to have to wash it off. the scratched look on the outside is where i ground down all the burnt part where i heated the pipe (i heated the outside of the pipe). i am building a better mold that should allow me to flare the 6" ports to ~9" |

Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2964 Registered: Mar-04 | i may put up a tutorial later on...just like i did w/ my interchangable ports thing. i have to get my molds built first...i'm going to try to find a wood-lath to use. |

Gold Member Username: Tdeaton1021Near Tampa, Florida USA Post Number: 2984 Registered: Sep-04 | wow, those 4s look manufactured. great job! how would you go about mounting them? just glueing in place? |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2965 Registered: Mar-04 | ya...i'm gonna start selling them. prolly really cheap. i can start selling the 4" ones as soon as i get a few couplings. i will sell them w/ 2 flares, 2 couplings, and a 16" center pipe. here is a pic of a 4" flare from the first batch: http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/13823355694.jpg&s=f5 they will look even better after i get a better mold build. i'm going to try to flare the 4" ones to 6"+, the flare will be deeper too. and ya...the best way to mount them will be to just glue them in place, you can also use screws and let the head of the screw kinda over lap the edge of the flare (dont actually screw thru the pvc): http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/13823465389.jpg&s=f5 |

Silver Member Username: NemenPost Number: 817 Registered: Dec-05 | how much you gonna charge by the way? |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2966 Registered: Mar-04 | i plan to keep the price as low as i can. prolly around $20+ship for a 1 peice port flared at both ends...and $20+couplings+ship for changable ones (2 flares, 2 couplings, 1 center peice). i just got though building one of the 6"ers flared to 9"! This thing is huge ...i literally dropped an 8" kicker CVR into it and it had room to spare Also, i found a lath to use to build a better mold...and i'm goning to buy a few hi-powered heat guns so i wont have to use a torch on the 6" anymore. I should be able to build them pretty quick when i get everything set up the way i want it. so....who wants 6" flares? |
Gold Member Username: 54danny54Betsy layne, Kentucky..GO... USA duh Post Number: 2456 Registered: Nov-04 | here in a bit i would like 3 of em... lol how bout shaving off 5 bux a port |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2967 Registered: Mar-04 | I'll see what i can do...if i have to buy the same pipe i used on those ports (SDR-35) i will prolly stick to $20+couplings+ship. But if i can find some thinner walled (cheaper) 6" pipe locally, i'll try to cut the price. 10ft of 6" SDR-35 costs me $35+ i just want to make a few buck on this...just enough to pay for the heat guns i'm gonn have to buy...lol. The torch blackens them too much....i have to spend too much time grinding off the black stuff...plus it makes them look less then pretty, lol. i have to go buy some more pipe monday. |

Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2970 Registered: Mar-04 | What i mean is that i flared the 6" pipe to 9". I'll post pics of it tonite. |
