Tuesday, May 16, 2006 - 16:25 GMT b/c you get the suface area of a circle by doing Pie(3.14)r2 so you ahve 2 formulas 3.14(62 ) x 3 (3 12" subs) = 339.292 in.2 and 3.14(7.52 ) x 2 (2 15" subs) = 353.429 in.2

Tuesday, May 16, 2006 - 16:39 GMT you get the formula for the area of a circle by doing: (Pie)r2 ....or (3.14)r2 r is the radius of the circle...or half of the diameter....so 12 inches is 6 and 15 is 7.5. so you do 3.14(62 ) then you multiply that by 3 b/c there are 3 12" subs. and then you do 3.14(7.52 ) for the 15" and then multiply that by 2 b/c there are 2 15" subs. and you come up with: 3.14(62) x 3 (3 12" subs) = 339.292 in.2 and 3.14(7.52) x 2 (2 15" subs) = 353.429 in.2 so there you have it.....2 15" subs have more surface area than 3 12" subs. BUT.....some subs have huge surrounds which takes away from the surface area of the sub....and they make up for that with excursion.
