Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 44 Registered: Oct-05 | im thinkin aroun 100-250 for a pair of subs |
Gold Member Username: Young_jamesCanada Post Number: 1478 Registered: Sep-05 | spl or sq? |
Silver Member Username: Sw9152Michigan Post Number: 675 Registered: Feb-06 | 2 kicker 15" cvr's for about $200 on ebay. good budget subs. they get loud and still keep some sq. |
Gold Member Username: James1115Ct Post Number: 5873 Registered: Dec-04 | alpine type r's, vega v-max's, Image dynamics IDQ's, does it have to be 2 subs or would you be willing to do 1 better sub? |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 48 Registered: Oct-05 | yea i was thinkin about getting 1 sub that will beat 2 12s but i dunno wat to get i dunnno wat brands are good because every one has diff sayins about brands |
Bronze Member Username: SplmonsterPost Number: 38 Registered: May-06 | listen to these guys, they know there stuff i think u should get the type r's they are here for like 115 each, alittle more but worth it http://carstereoexpo.com/swal12tysesu1.html |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 49 Registered: Oct-05 | wat does spl and i know sq means sound quality right and i think spl means sound pressure level right? wat does that really mean |
Bronze Member Username: SplmonsterPost Number: 41 Registered: May-06 | sq is how clean it will sound and spl is pure bass, like when it hits u cant hear the music lol and SQL is a nice mixture of both the type r's are SQL |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 50 Registered: Oct-05 | haha i want a sub or a pair that are SQL and i am making a custom box wat should Frequency should i tune my box to im not sure how to tune the box so the subs sound the best? help pleaee |
Bronze Member Username: SplmonsterPost Number: 48 Registered: May-06 | well thats as far as my knowlege goes so far dont wanna steer ya in the wrong direction, but first pick out some subs then people can tell you what to tune them to, and tuning has to do with the box design. and u only need to tune it if ur going ported, so find the subs you want and go from there. if you take my advice on the type r's get a nice 1200 watt amp ( lots will back up the r's ) like the ed nine.1 or the kicker kx1200.1 type r's are good sql cvrs are more spl and dont sound nearly as clean as the r's, but not sure bout the other subs he posted, get some feedback from ppl who have heard lots of them |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 52 Registered: Oct-05 | yea i dunno if i wanna go ported or not because my car is a 1985 camaro hatch and there is a cubbie in the very back and i dunno if the box would be big enough for 12s with a ported enclosure, u mean 1200rms right. i was thinkin about a hifonics amp |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 57 Registered: Oct-05 | i found some new piooner subs here is the model number Pioneer TS-W3004SPL do you think gettting 2 of these would be better than the CVR, i am lookin for SQL |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 7833 Registered: Jul-05 | Yes those 3004 r low priced & get loud BUT ! think about how much an amp 2 power them will costs & also more $ on upgrading ur electrical 2 supply the needed current ........ |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 59 Registered: Oct-05 | true, but you think there gunna be louder than the CVRs or typeRs, so wat you mean bye upgrading electrical system? like a higher amp alternator, |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 7836 Registered: Jul-05 | http://www.wickedcases.com/caraudio/charging.html |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 60 Registered: Oct-05 | k thanks, does any one think i should buy these over the CVRs or type Rs |
Silver Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 536 Registered: Feb-06 | you want sql, i'd go: type r cvr pioneer |
Silver Member Username: 420pimp2Post Number: 726 Registered: Jan-06 | buy type r's i don't hear alot of bad sh.it about these subs i hear mostly good sh.it so type 'rssssssss would b the way 2 go |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 62 Registered: Oct-05 | should i got with a sealed box or a ported |
Silver Member Username: Livin_loudNy Post Number: 103 Registered: Jan-06 | Sealed = ~4 dB less than ported but tighter bass Ported = Louder, lower, boomier bass Your choice |
Silver Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 539 Registered: Feb-06 | ported. |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 63 Registered: Oct-05 | i was hopin you would say sealed haha tuning the box seems confusing, i wouldnt have a problem with buiding the box but i dunno about the tuning wat should i tune it to. i want boomie bass, i have another question so lower the frequency the lower the bass? and i dont really ge dB so if a subs is 90db and another sub is 87dB would the 90dB be louder i dont really get that |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 7841 Registered: Jul-05 | if u port loooow like 30/32Hz u can get VERY NICE tight accurate bass like i'm currently getting with my RS if u port higher like 35/36hz & up the u will get boomier & lose some SQ ....... |
Silver Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 540 Registered: Feb-06 | yep^^ and yes 90db. is louder than 87db. read this to learn more http://www.bcae1.com/ |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 64 Registered: Oct-05 | can you explain the dB please |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 65 Registered: Oct-05 | ok thanks |
Silver Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 542 Registered: Feb-06 | look at that site i gave the link for under decibel on the right. simply put, higher db. louder. |
Silver Member Username: MixneffectOrangevale, Ca. USA Post Number: 907 Registered: Apr-05 | Db = deci-bell = 1/10 of a bell Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. It had a speaker. In order to measure its efficiency per given watt, Alexander Graham Bell invented the "bell" unit of measure. Since this measure was too great for rating a speaker, it had to be fractioned. What better way then the metric system. So he divided them into tenths, therefore deci-bell. Sound Pressure Level is measured in decibels. Yes sound is measured by the pressure it generates, and therefore pushing on our eardrums. So a 87 dB speaker will be softer than a 90 decibel speaker, given that they are capable of handling the same wattage, have the same resistence (ohms) and are the same in all other aspects other than efficiency (dBs). |
Silver Member Username: MixneffectOrangevale, Ca. USA Post Number: 908 Registered: Apr-05 | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Graham_Bell#Bell_and_decibel Correction; Bell and decibel The bel (B) is a unit of measurement originally proposed by 1929 W. H. Martin of Bell Labs (Bell System Techn. Jrnl. VIII. 2) and named after Bell. The bel was too large for everyday use, so the decibel (dB), equal to 0.1 B, became more commonly used. |
Bronze Member Username: ReefPost Number: 66 Registered: Oct-05 | So higher the db there louder is will be so when looking at subs should i look at that to |
