Silver Member Username: ShutterleftopenColumbus, Ohio United states Post Number: 125 Registered: Apr-05 | i just bought two 12" DVC 4-ohm MA subs. they're suppose to be 300-350w rms a piece. i hooked one up to my 200X2 amp. so i ran 200w to the one sub. i accidentally crossed my positive and negative connections inside the box. i wired them into a 2-ohm load. i played the speaker for 5 minutes and i smelled burnt rubber all through my car. blew that sub. so last night afterwards i realized what i did and i hooked up the other sub the right way. made sure of it. played that for 5 minutes, and that sub blew. what could be wrong? could just simply crossing your negative and positive speaker wire blow a subwoofer that bad? and if i can, why did it blow when i fixed the problem? |
