Im using 2 Fosgate P2 4 ohm 12's. I'm gonna have them in a custom 90 Camaro box. The recommended air space is:
Sealed=.85 Vented= 1.75 tuned to 37HZ
My box, however, has 1.21 cubic feet in each side. Should I go with vented? OR should I cut off the bottom of the box and seal it which would give me .89 on each side?
By cutting off the bottom, I mean....My box is almost like 2 sections. It has a big top and a smaller bottom. It is all one piece but I can cut off the bottom. Just wondering what you guys think I should do? If I go vented, HOW would I tune the box to 37 HZ?
tuneing can somehow be done by a graph. If the box is sealed I would keep it sealed. After sub displacement that 1.21 will go down a bit and it will not hurt your subs to run them in a slightly larger sealed box.
I was told I could displace some of the air space by adding cut 2x4's to the bottom of the box. That would make it about 1.0 to .90 or so. Then with the speaker displacement, I should be close to target cubic space. Is this correct?
