JL box for RE SE 12"????? (plz help)

Its a 1.75 cu ft tuned to 32hz box, perfect for my RE SE 12" sub. It has a 1.75inch x 14inch slot though, so people say to use wider (bigger than 1.75inch)??? RE recommends 1.8cuft tuned to 32hz...that box is pretty close. its has 24.5sq inches of port...that plenty.
