should my car's voltage stay at 14.4 all the time? Right now the lowest ive seen it drop to is 13, when i was blaring it for an hour and a half on the freeway, but it still didnt cut out, it was just at 13. SO, what should the voltage be?
it is ok that my some time go to 14.6 and than 13.5 and than 12.4 ? but is just around there some time if im at a red light and i have my system crank it drop like 11.9 and 12.5 but most of the time now it about 13.5 and 12.2 and im planning to put in a 5 fadar cap to help it to stop the volteg so low
general rule of thumb is 1 Farad for every thousand watts.
i would look into getting a HO alt. if your voltage is dropping to 11.9 and 12.5.....then your alt. isn't able to supply enough power when your car is at idle.
My 200A HO alternator from Excessive Amperage does like 15.4 when the car is at idle in park when i turn on the car and it sits at 13.0 when the car is off.
