Or maybe I can have Harold Greenwich come over and screw it together for me. Those who got to see his post will understand.

very nice box for your first 1.

But I am wondering if it would make a difference if it was top loaded insteaded of front loaded as designed. It would put the sub under the rear deck instead of facing the rear. and if the rear deck was opened up a little this may help, in my drunken state of thinking.

i dont think there is a "set rule of thumb" but im thinking 3" might be too close & cause the wood 2 split - i use 5" & 6" apart with LIQUID NAILS ADHESIVE which works gr8 .......

About $30-35 in materials. The second baffle is not only for extra strenght but also to recess the sub. Thanx Rovin I will remember that next time in build one.

is double baffling it just mean that ur addin 2 sheets of mdf to the front of the box to keep it sturdier and from not flexing?

on the front of ur box, does the front part of the square have to be in line (straight across) from the port? (if that makes sense)

was that directed towards me? if so, i am looking at ur first picture where the front of the box looks to be behind the left most port. is it supposed to be even? or can the front of the box be behind the port a lil?

I extended the front of the box an 1.5" to make it like that. U cant just move it to make it even without affecting the internal vol.

On the link I posted. Add and 1.5" to the green and yellow. Add an extra .75" to the yellow and subtract .75 from the red, subtract .75 from violet and add 1.5" to top and bottom. I dont know how elese to explain it.

I used that link to find out what I wanted my basic dimensions to be. I could have just built it like that, but I did what I explained for strenght and to recess the sub.

billy bob - u really used ur brains when studying how 2 build ur box & patience unlike some ppl i seen posting pix of their sh!tty made box - again good job.

But DON'T cover it with a sh!tty colored fabric like i seen others do which makes it looks SO G@Y - if u want 2 try something dif from the usually box carpet , try LAMINATE available in any hardware with TONS of colors ,textures & patterns .......

I dont understand why ne one would ever buy a sub enclosure. It only cost me $35 to make this and about 6 hours total. Using very limited tools. There will be many more in the future.

well - a few reasons :
here r lazy azz ppl out there
some ppl have no time/patience
some have no skills/not good with their hands
others dont even own a powersaw
& others rather pay some1 2 get it done .

I NEVER have & NEVER will pay any1 2 build my boxes ....

when the Bragging section is back up - u should go put ur pics on it.....

I decided to just carpet the baffle for now. Havin a little trouble gettin the second baffle lined up. Figure I should wait until I have the 12vq in the box before I finish the second baffle. Its gonna be painted black when its finished.
