Bronze Member Username: MystrePemberville, Ohio USA Post Number: 53 Registered: Sep-05 | Okay I just hooked up my subs and amp. I am getting no sound. The amp is getting power though. Setup: 2 SPL JWS ( same as JL W6 V1s) 12" DVC 6 Ohm 1 JL Audio 500/1 amp. Below are diagrams of the setup. First one is the outside of the box. The second is of the inside of the box. Any questions, just ask. Thanks. ![]() ![]() |

Gold Member Username: TheelfkeeperStockbridge, GA USA Post Number: 1777 Registered: Feb-05 | have you checked your filters?? settings on the HU?? input sensitivity settings on the amp set right?? set the gains like JL says?? are thoes terminals any good?? |
Bronze Member Username: MystrePemberville, Ohio USA Post Number: 64 Registered: Sep-05 | What filters? Settings on HU are fine. What should the input sensitivity be set on? Gains set to what? What terminals? |
Bronze Member Username: MystrePemberville, Ohio USA Post Number: 65 Registered: Sep-05 | I checked the voltage, it's fine. Also, I hooked the remote directly and still nothing. And I noticed that even when the remote is not hooked to anything I still have a power light on on the amp. How is that? I also might switch out the RCAs. |
Gold Member Username: TheelfkeeperStockbridge, GA USA Post Number: 1782 Registered: Feb-05 | Gain/input sensitivity info: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143 filters on the amp. HPF, LPF, SSF.... anything you have to turn on in the HU like panasonics have?? you gotta turn on the sub pre out on some HU's. the terminals on the box. some are really crappy. |
Bronze Member Username: MystrePemberville, Ohio USA Post Number: 66 Registered: Sep-05 | Not sure what to set the HPF, LPF, SSF and the rest to. Yea, all of the HU's settings are fine. I'll check the terminals, I thought that that was what you meant, just wanted to make sure. What about the power light being on with out the remote wire being hooked up? |
Gold Member Username: TheelfkeeperStockbridge, GA USA Post Number: 1787 Registered: Feb-05 | you shouldn't get any kind of lights or output without the REM wir ehooked up. unless you have the amp set for signal sensing. |
Bronze Member Username: MystrePemberville, Ohio USA Post Number: 67 Registered: Sep-05 | Well what if I am (without it being setup for signal sensing), what then? |
Gold Member Username: TheelfkeeperStockbridge, GA USA Post Number: 1794 Registered: Feb-05 | prob something wrong with that amp... |

Gold Member Username: RzarectorCoquitlam, Bc Canada Post Number: 1073 Registered: Dec-04 | so the amp has power? light is on, music playin outa the speakers but no sound from the subs? did u turn up the input sensitivity(gain), comes from the factory at the lowest setting, make sure you dont have subwoofer turned off from your HU or something stupid like that.. |
Bronze Member Username: MystrePemberville, Ohio USA Post Number: 68 Registered: Sep-05 | Carl, what grounds? |
Bronze Member Username: Car1Post Number: 22 Registered: Apr-06 | sorry i thought it sed u had 2 amps! my mistake. is it the same thickness as the positive (+) wire. i think your got a bad connection of the ground wire. i had the same problem with my amp (the light was on even though the REM was not plugged connected) i just reconnected my ground in a different position and it worked! |
Gold Member Username: TjmutlowPost Number: 1920 Registered: Sep-05 | go to jls website, it will show you how to set the amp up... |
Bronze Member Username: MystrePemberville, Ohio USA Post Number: 69 Registered: Sep-05 | OK. Figured it out. Something in the wiring. I hooked it up normally and they work fine. Somehow I have wired the parallel/parallel wrong. This happened last time, when I had my Audiobahns(can't believe that I even typed that word). I was trying to run them series/parallel. I will try to get a pic up of my wiring soon. |
