Silver Member Username: Jprix82Post Number: 484 Registered: Jan-06 | Lets just say i needed 50sq.in. of port area, would round ports take up less space(port displacment)than square(slot)ports?

(because the wall of the port is thinner) to get ~50sq inches of port w/ round ports...you would need four 4" ports, two 6" ports, or one 8". (but, slot ports are cheaper...and you can make them in and L-shape too) |

A more practical approach would be 4 4" round ports (same port area), due to the trouble of finding 8" pipe and even more so if you need an elbow. Assuming port length of 20" with 1 corner each: round ports: 4*(pi*(4in/2)^2)*21in = 1055 cu.in square port (assume 12"x4"): 12in*4.75in*24in = 1368cu.in Round ports would take up slightly less room, but adding 4 ports and keeping the 1 diamter away from any other surface (general rule) might be more difficult. |

Silver Member Username: Jprix82Post Number: 485 Registered: Jan-06 | If a square port is 20"H x 5"W would that equal up to 50sq.in.?
Silver Member Username: Jprix82Post Number: 486 Registered: Jan-06 | it didnt bump
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2646 Registered: Mar-04 | no...thats 100sq inches. area = lengh x width |
|
Silver Member Username: Jprix82Post Number: 487 Registered: Jan-06 | can you give a example of a 50sqin port?

|
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2654 Registered: Mar-04 | nester...usually when you buy MDF to build a box, you have plenty left over to do a slot-port. (unless you build a fvckin huge box) a 50sq in square port would be: 10" x 5" = 50sq in 2" x 25" = 50 12.5" x 4" = 50 |

|
Silver Member Username: Jprix82Post Number: 489 Registered: Jan-06 | oohh i got ya, so this would be 75sqin right?
