Silver Member Username: John_washNashville, Tennessee Post Number: 190 Registered: Dec-05 | what size pvc pipe should for my box? i want my box tuned to 30hz but i read somewhere that too small of a pvc pipe will make port noise. so how big in diameter should i go. |

Silver Member Username: JbumpNebraska City, Nebraska USA Post Number: 218 Registered: Dec-05 | I have a 1.80cu.ft. box and my ports are at 36Hz, both 3"x14.75", and i don't have a hint of port noise, but it blows out a lighter by my HU, just one 12" TypeR.. and try the kicker site for the displacment, or the spec sheet that came with the woofer.. it'll say, "Displacment Bottom" or it might say "Displacment top (magnet out)" |
Silver Member Username: John_washNashville, Tennessee Post Number: 194 Registered: Dec-05 | ok so i went to that site Rovin suggested but i see that slot ported boxes take up a whole lotta space so im just going to do a pvc ported box. Im going to be using a 6" port so could this work? |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 7048 Registered: Jul-05 | what i rec u doing each sub with its own separate chamber/volume space - NOT a box that has both subs using 1 air volume, all it costs u is an extra pic of mfd . They r lazy ppl who will follow my post saying 2 subs in 1 airspace is fine - ITS NOT ! separate has advantages , let them go read y cause i'm not gonna type it out 4 them . 3" pvc ports r good 2 work with as 4" tend s too be quite long - play with the nos on the calc 2 see what fits ur needs best ..... |
Silver Member Username: John_washNashville, Tennessee Post Number: 196 Registered: Dec-05 | ok Rovin i will put them in separate chambers but whats a good tuning freq. for them. i want it to hit hard and low but where i can feel it but I DO NOT want bass thats hurts the ears too much. |
Silver Member Username: John_washNashville, Tennessee Post Number: 198 Registered: Dec-05 | bump for help^ |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 7049 Registered: Jul-05 | depends on the subs u have & its specs generally what ppl mostly go with - lowest around 28hz & highest 35hz , some ppl go even higher in SPL comps (lower the no better the SQ & vise versa) pick a number between 30/35 to see how ur box dimentions/port could fit comfortably in ur ride . This ^ is NOT the professional by the book method but space is an issue & sometimes u have 2 fiddle with a design dimention/tuning 2 get it 2 fit ...... |

Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 7052 Registered: Jul-05 | yes i would say - hits deep shaking my steering column quality of amp also determines how clean & bass freq u get ex - few days ago i sold my MB Quart Raa1000 amp & it plays quite good but 2day i temporarily installed my bro's power acoustic A2100D amp & it plays louder than the MB but i feel that the MB amp played the low freqs ALOT better & its SQ is also ALOT better than this PA amp which is rated ! 2100wrms (PA amps r overated in wrms though) . Whatever subs/system u doing spend the $ on a decent quality amp ....... |
