i know this is the amp section but the sub section is down. i am building a box for my subs and this is the design i came up with. in order for me to tune my box to 28hz the ports has to be this long. would this work. it will be a 1.85 cuft per chamber tuned to 28hz.

also when calculating the length of the port, do i measure the outer wall of the port or the inner wall of the port.

thanks marshall. on the diagram above i measure the inner wall so thats why the port was long. i did what you said and now the port and this is what i came up with. its not all screwed and glued down yet. i just placed the pieces to take the picture.

they will LOVE that box
interchangable ports are hard, also must be sealed nice and tight when they are in. :-)

no its only 3/4. i might put another layer on the front but i doubt it. i might just put edead on the front piece to reduce the vibration.

Chad, you should check out that ABC box that guy did on sounddomain. PVC half-pipes would greatly reduce any port noise, also, when you go to put the lid on it, sand down all the top edges flat, and use a layer of thick double sided sticky foam to cover all the top edges, then when you screw that lid on, it will squeeze down on the foam and be 100% air tight.

lewass....thanks for the idea. i don't know about the half pipe idea (its a good one but seems like a lot of work) but i will do that double sided foam thing.

bassman3.......in the picture i just placed it there to take the picture but i will first glue it then screw it from the side of the box. also this is the site i got the calculation for the slot port length.
