My stock alt is about 70A. im planning to add a 1200rms amp/sub to my car. I know if i dont upgrade my alt my amp will clip. i was just wondering if a cap will protect the amp/sub. I dont really care about my car i just dont wanna blow the amp.
a cap will do nothing unless you have the electrical system to back it up. you'll just add to your problems. put the cap money towards a new Alt.
1200Wrms is about 95 amps of current draw. you'll need that much additional power, on top of the stock alt's output, for your new HO Alt. also keep in mind for any additions you may add later.
my problem is that my car is a pos. its a 92 mustangs 4 banger. it ticks, knocks on occasion, eats oil, lol, and i got a 15re sx just sittin in my room. i dont really want to buy a new alt.
