its all subjective, seeing Pioneer holds the world record, something like a 180db

I find it intriguing that ALOT of subs can hit 130-150dbs but 180 is an unheard of record.

ask of USACi finals last year...Scott Owens has the record for highest spl in car. He has 13 pioneer 12" subs and 52 amps in his extreme car. He did 179.7dB! (pioneer sponsors him)

As for highest SPL ever recorded on the termlab...Matt Sibley did 182.0dB in super port-wars (mic in the port).

If you are asking what is the loudest single 12" sub...that would prolly go to the Digital Designs 9912z.

shocker audio sig, i'm not sure if they make a neo-sig in that size, but the regular sig is very loud easily in the 150+ plus range, in the right box of course.

Josh if you look at the two different subs you will notice the basket is almost identicle except for one less magnet on the SI and a different shaped back plate. The RE sub is built much better than the SI, get a load of that dust cap, lol. Polo.

Here are some that i could find, the first two are of a shocker3, which is one step below the sig, they use the same magnet and basket structer but the sig has a longer vc. the last link is the a sig12 comapered to a rfl, and then a little ways down is a shocker xtreme which is 3 steps below a sig.

well you have to look around online to find a sig, since there not made anymore, but i've seen them go for around 300-400bucks, my friend got 2 10's for $450, so it all depends who you get them from, the sig is like the RE mt, its made for spl its like 2500wrms, and can take anything you can throw at it for burps(i have heard of ppl giving them 4000watts+ without a problem) the rfl is a pos there are a lot better spl subs than it, the shocker xtreme, which is the sub in the bottom pic, is compareable to the RE sx, it can just handle more power, and all shocker subs use tc sounds motor.

Being loud all depends on the vehicle and install.

In one instance, a DD 95/9912 will be a full dB louder than and RE MT (drop in). Others the MT will be louder. Still others, AudioQue HD's...Shocker Sigs...SoloX...Pioneer...etc.

It all depends on how your vehicle/box loads.

oh and by the way...156dB w/ 1 12" SI Mag(on TL)...BS!

^agree, it depends a lot on box and car more than anything. and i also agree that one 12 mag could not of hit 156, sh1t i've only ever heard of a 18inch sig, in a ss box and 2000watts only hit 158, so the only way the mag would hit that high of number would be in a "one note wonder" box and a SH!T load of power.
