New member Username: Montecarlos11Louisville, KY USA Post Number: 8 Registered: Sep-05 | Would my alternator (200 amp) be able to power 2 Havoc 15"s? They are rated at 1500RMS a piece at 2ohm, i believe. I have had a couple ppl tell most likely not, some say my like will still dim. If this is true how much could i power them without diming my light too much? |

Bronze Member Username: Andysd03Post Number: 24 Registered: Jan-06 | It be fine just buy a yellowtop battery and a 10 to 20 farad capacitor and ud be fine with a 3000 watt rms amp ud need to buy a battery isolator though for 2 batteries they arnt much.you can find caps at onlinecarstereo.com and good batteries at woofersetc.com. that be alot cheaper then buying a bigger alternator! |
Bronze Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 81 Registered: Feb-06 | 10 to 20 farard cap!^^^ 1 farad for every 1000 watts, for ex. 2000w-2 farad cap. and don't think having 2 batteries or caps. are a replacement for a ho alt., you'll kill you're car that way. |

Silver Member Username: Baseball1187Columbia, SC Post Number: 636 Registered: Dec-04 | 2500-3000w RMS is A LOT. that is drawing about 180a with 2500w and 215a with 3000w RMS (14v). That leaves very little to run your car. Adding a battery will not help while the car is running, the cap won't either. It will work sure, but the voltage will drop and the headlights will still look like a disco ball. If you have the money for 2 hAvocs and that 2500w of power, do it right and invest in a bigger alternator. I'd stick with 1 hAvoc and 1500w RMS, done properly... I would imagine it will be VERY loud. |
New member Username: BlkwardogPost Number: 7 Registered: Mar-06 | u guys that hav havocs...do u think it would b betr for me to get a pair of them over a pair of JL w6v2's or an Image dynamics ID MAX or even a pair of kicker l7's? |
Gold Member Username: 54danny54Betsy layne, Kentucky..GO... USA duh Post Number: 2014 Registered: Nov-04 | i would say yes definatly(to blkwardog). The hAvoc is a competition SPL woofer, yet it supposed to have good SQ |

Silver Member Username: Goose5714Post Number: 392 Registered: Feb-06 | I think he'll be fine...unless he's competing...your never gonna constatnly be drawing anywhere close to 3000 watts. If he adds a yellow top i think he would be okay. Oh and he doesn't need an isolator if he isn't gonna be running his system with the car off. |
