as most of you know i have a 71 gt Torino ans was thinking about putting on some coy C-5 (like torq thrust II just cheaper....and look better)...anyway i was going to put on some 18's and 20's but now that i am getiing some finacial help from my grandfather...I might get 20's and 22's the wheels are not the issue...its the tires....they aren't cheap.....the 2 20' tires 275/40/20 are 150$ fine by me but i havent looked hard enough for the front. I want a 24-26" x 8-9 inches in fron 225-245/??/18 tire config.....Okay but with 20's and 22's thats going to be hard to find a cheap tire..i did however find a nitto 555 22" tire for 210$ but could find a close enough match for the front tire....the same was the case for the 20's i want a tall 28x10.5 wheel in the back......so can you guys help me out...give me pointers for tires....or give me you opinion on the rim size...please dont tell me to put the originals wheels on the car..or leave whut i have because im not...i want my car to stand out from the norm...Nobody my age has a decent old car..let alone with wheels on it

600$ for all tires is my budget

the wheels C-5

cant give you the website (school blocked it)for my car but look in my profile to see the website to find my car

u might be able to find somthing used on ebay for a decent price, i can get mine for like 650 shipped brand new on ebay but i dont buy um on ebay because you cant get a warranty an i feel its worth it to buy out here from places like discount tires just to be able to have the warranty just to have peace of mind

NEMEN where the hell are you buying ur tires from because i cant even get a normal size 15 used at a used tire place for less then 20 bucks an thats for a tire with probably barely 25 percent thread life left on it

lol i own a tire wheel shop i get them at wholesale in different places. like the 15" tires i can get them for 3- 5 bucks each i i can get some rims for cheap also it depends on the style, company and everything. But i sell my tires for way more than what i get them for so i make a good profit.

Killer... Dont go too Big man.. i just wouldnt like to see that Clean Classic of yours lifted all high because you went with tires that would require you to not mind it being some what lifted.....

Go with a Size rim that you would still be able to get a tire that isnt too far off from the Overall Diameter of the tires that came stock on ur ride .. an if you do go with somthing that is too large you will Risk brake Failure

You would also throw off your Speedometer.. you want to stay very close to the same overall diameter of the OEM wheels just with thinner sidewalls to accomidate the difference in Rim size

oh i know the speedo is going to get thrown off wont be hard to recalibrate..but as for jacking my car up thats the last thing im going to do. i want mor wheel to fill that big huge rear quater pannel it looks wieird to me...i wus thinking more about whut 20's would look like on the front and i think it would jack the front end up...to most tire i want is 24-25.5" max diameter front 27-29" max for the rear

i know whut u mean but as for a decent priced tire....that for a 22 is whut i wanted to know

"would 275/45/22 fit on the back?" jake papa that would make the tire 31.375" thats a little 2 big i would like a racy pattern too sports truck style

my car those who dont know
http://www.torinocobra.com/guest_htm/travis_johnson.htm

nemen 15$ is just a little too cheap....i wouldnt wnat to ride on those tire 60-100$ is least i would pay for tires

but i want more opions on should i do 18's 20's or 20's 22's and some cheap tires

i believe pretty much anything would fit on the back ( any size within reason of course )... its the front that you might have trouble with because you wouldnt want somthing that was too wide because it could possibly scrape against the inner hull when you take turns

hey guess whut i had a book with cheap tires in it all along lol...in the ads its some no name tire. 265/35/22 29.02" dia. 195.99 and 225/35/20 25.9" dia. 139.99 the pattern would prolly be identical but the 25.9" is kinda up there it might work but sying i have 24" it would be wierd just thinkin bout(have to see it)

but help me on this now i cant find any decent cars that sit low with 20's and 22's on the net i you do a search for 22's all kinds of G@y vic, implas and other dumb stuff comes up....Go onto ovehualin's website and look at one ugly horse it has a mustang with 20's and 22' on it looks decent dont like the rims though.....Yeah his car is full tubbed but my tire is only 10" not 13 or 14" also i collect those dubs cars...espaecially the bigtime muslce should take a pick i have about 50 models in our garage some i bulit myself,,of my real car i wanted a 71 chevelle but the Torino Gets way more attention than a chevelle ever would but pleaze guys help me out

Big rims + musclecar = butchering a classic.

Go with some 16" or 17" rims and fill the rest of the wheelwells with RUBBER! :-)

Seriously, every Torino I've seen like with 20s and up look retarded.

i dont see whut wrong with big rims on a old car...the ones u guys see are just wheels tacked on to a car....none of use need 2200 watts in a car or need to hit 155dbs neither..we do that cuz we like it..16s are out of the question that already whut i have i know i wus goint to get that response but thats life....but i need to make up my mind by 2morrow cuz im off and can place the order

but 17's is old i tryin to realy blow the jelous peoples minds (some people dont like the fact that im 17 and have a nice car let alone BLACK) yes there is a sterotype of rims and whut not but i like it and thats all that matters

yeah i agree with jonathan in that older cars with huge rims just look "GangsTa"

not like a muscle car should look,

get some 16's with some sweet @ss mickey thompson street tires,

i had some centerline rims on some mickey's with the dogbone tread, i loved those rims/tires!

well as the first part of thread said anything below 18's is out of the question i dont like the pro street look anymore....I am all about pro-touring, i dont think im gonna get 20's and 22's saw a couple cars and saw how high they sit, and how hard it would be to make it sit low, and not cost an arm and a leg, maybe a head

18's and 20's is whut im doing rear tire 275/40/20 or 275/45/20 that should be 28x10.5 tire

the front 235/40/18.

i wanna do a 2" drop on the front and if its let the air out the shocks...gonna see if i can order them today (talk to my grandfather for finacial help lol)

hey an jon where have u seen a torino with 20's especialy 70-71 GT
