easy answer. dont do it. mainly because you wont find any permanent dc power strong enough for the amp. for instance, a 12v plug from your old cordless phone will NOT be strong anough for the amp. and if you plan on using a car battery, you will drain it pretty quickly.

And where will you keep said battery and charger, emitting explosive gasses and requiring regular maintenance?

if you really want to do it then just stick the ground wire into the third prong of a grounded outlet. but we are all going to keep telling you the same thing. dont do it. its dangerous and very inefficient.

If you have an amp that draws in 25 amps or less, you can pick up an AC-to-DC power supply from Radio Shack for around $100. I did, and used it for nearly two years, but then i blew up my amp. lol. You can also power any other 12V stuff off of it. Here is a link to it on Radio Shack's website...

many people have come and gone trying to connect a car audio system from a computer power supply. i'm a computer tech so trust me when I tell you that a computer power supply will not have enough amps to power the system. like i told the first guy, connecting a car amp in a home, is never a good idea, but if you aboslutly have to do it for some reason follow what greg says. even though you'll most likely blow something sooner or later.

45 amps @ 12-15volts
That will work as long as your fuse rating on you amp is at or below 45 amps.

You could get about 850rms out of the 80 amp one.
