CD2 horn... what is a horn and are they good

i listen to alot of rock and i am trying to get the best midrange levels possible, where all that drop D tuning guitar is so how can i get some sweet mid levels? multi mids?, is midrage and mid bass the same? and are ID speaker and subs very good?
