I got a dual 4 ohm SS-RLp15 which can take about 600-700w rms. I was looking at getting an Alpine MRD-M1005, which can produce 700w x 1 at 4 ohm. Would this amp be a good choice(power, sound quality)?

yes, it is stable at 2ohm, if your running 1 sub, prob ahve to keep gain down on it a bit.

sounds like a pretty good choice. Those Alpine amps are built very well and rated right around their true power.
