i jsut got 6 infinity speakers curtosy of my cousin, all in good condition, 2 6x9's(100rms), 2 6 1/2"(60rms), and two 4"(35 rms), they are the reference series(two way speakers)...now my question is which ones should i use in my 1987 s10, im gunna have two comp cvr 10's hooked up so i dont want to drowned out the vocals, so which combination should i use or which set shoudl i use seperately, i have a pioneer gm3100t (60X2 rms @ 4ohms, 75X2 @ 2ohms) and a alpine flex amp (40x2 @ 4ohms, 60x2@ 20hms) i kind of only want to run one of the amps, b.c i will be running another sub amp so i want to limit amp draw to my alt....also i heard that 6 1/2 speakers sound much better then 6.9's...is this true...thanx in advaence....also one question im building seperate enclosures for my 10cvr's how much room do i have to leave from the back of the sub and the back wall of the box...thanx alot for all the help in advance...

i would use a combo of the 2 6x9 and the 2 6.5 because the 6x9 will have better midbass making the music sound fuller and the 6.5 speakers will be a little better on the vocal parts. if you can only pick 2 i would go with the 6x9 speakers because they still have decent highs and way better midbass. as for the box, 2-3 inches should be good enough from back of the magnet to the wall of the box, air just has to go out the hole in the magnet to cool the voice coils.

are you going to angle the front of the box to match the angle of the seat?

i would try to keep at least 2 in of clearance, but if you are not over powering the sub or clipping the amp you might be able to get away with a little less.

i made a box like the one i drew for my friend with a reg cab dodge 1500 and had 3-4 in clearance behind magnet with a 10 mtx 6000 series. or you could always play around with different box designs using cardboard.
