So I was wondering, I already have this sx900.4. Well bridged down to 2 channels it prodcues 450 watts @ 4 ohms. Could I just wire those 2 channels to each voice coil?

well first I wanted to know if it was possible. If so then do I look at something with 900 watts and at 4ohms or 2 ohms?

you could do it with a dvc4, but getting the gain and x/o set exactly the same and getting it to sound good may be a headache. With the DSP capability of that amp it might be doable without too much hassle.

it will work daily & at comp! nothing wrong with doing this at all, if gains and all settings are matched to each other. He will get way more power to the sub, it will be MUCH happier!

See that was what I was thinking and since I have the DSP on it like apoti said it would be easy to tune. Any suggestions though on subs, I am stumped.

In my experience and position, it is not a problem. Regardless of gain setting: http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/TechPapers/DualVoiceCoilDrivers.pdf

JL carries a different view than Adire:http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=163

I am currently deliberating with a few engineers on another forum, as well as discussing the issue with JL's chief engineer, Manville Smith. It's great controversy.

VP of marketing, but he's clearly in tune with what's going on technically.

Those are two ends of the spectrum.

he's not the typical marketing guy. He stays very in tune with the engineering and it's not hard to see when you read his posts.

He doesn't just want to sell stuff, he wants to sell GOOD stuff, and he wants to know what makes it good.

He's a regular contributor at carsound and posts at sounddomain once in a while too.
