Hi I'm trying to build a boombox of sorts using car audio parts. I bought a small amp (2channel x 50 watts rms) and a car battery. I planned to connect the amp to the battery, positive to positive negative to remote with switch in the wire, and ground to the negative. I wired it up using 8 guage wire but all I've managed to do is get a spark when i try to connect the ground to the negative terminal.I can't get the amp to turn on. I'm probably doing something obvious wrong but i can't figure out what. Does anyone know what i should do? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
