I was just wondering, i'm getting an external regulator for my alternator, that will let me run it at up to 20 volts.. What is the safest I can run it at, and not destroy or damage electrical componets in my car? I was thinking around 15.5ish should be the max I set it for? But wasnt totally sure, so figured I'd ask..

14.2v - 14.6v max. Any higher and it'll slowly destroy the battery. Your internal voltage warning lights won't kick in till it gets past 16.5v.
It'll take around 3-4 months before the battery dies.

ya through Nathan.

ok, my batteries are warrantied.. (every place is out of stock near me, and maaco somehow destroyed 2 yellow tops, and popped every fuse in my electronics system (including my deck), so optima is actually mailing me two new yellow tops, without having to return the other ones at all, heh.

But like I said...so 4 months or so under warranty.. would running it higher than 15 damage anything other than the batteries??

Yes, through Nathan.

Do see it on the website though, thanks Isaac/B, where it says an alternator to 15v max. Didnt notice this before.. good looking out, thanks a ton. :-)
