I currently have a 93 camaro z28, and am about to install two amps resulting in 1000 watts rms. I THINK my stock alternator is 124amps (not too sure). Should I be fine running this? If not what auto shop would change the gauge of my wires so I could install a higher amp. alternator? (cost?) Thanks again guys.

Also what gauge of wire should be used to replace this?

I have 2 Alpine Type R 12"s that are Dual Voice Coil and 4ohms each. My amp is an ALpine MRD-M1005 that I'm going to run at 1000 Watts x 2 ohms. What type of Amp Wiring Kit do I need? I want to buy it on Ebay since local stores price them so high. Anyone know what kit i should get, suggestions?

-Thanks

Paul1n - check out the links Glass posted.

Nick - best thing to do it look on ebay for the stinger HPM 1/0AWG wireing kit, its like $80. that'll be great and give you room for upgrades. don't know of anything else any cheaper really.

I believe your stock alternator is 105 amps. Not 100% though.

whats the difference between 4 gauges and 8 and 2 and all the different gauges for amp installation kits, does it matter?

Yes, the smaller the gauge, the larger. (similar to piercings, and shotguns). Larger wire can carry more current with less voltage loss, and much safer.
