Can anyone tell me how to remove the faceplate on the headunit from a 99 ford escort. There are two holes on each end of it and im trying to do it w/out the "magic tool" that i hear about
The two holes are meant to remove the whole stereo, the faceplate is not detachable. My best suggestion if you can't afford the $15 for the tools is to use coathangers. Another way to do it is to shove a flathead screwdriver in on each side of the head unit, push them outward, and pull it out.

im looking into buying my first car and not wanting to go into great debt, i found a (so they tell me) good car..its a 99 ford escort ZX2..when i take it off the lot the final price will be $2500.00..i have looked at the reviews and i think im getting a pretty good deal...the car rides well and there is notihing majorly wrong with the car..it has passed inspection which i took to a privately owned garage to have done..just wondering if anyone had any tips about this make of car ..as im new a this.
I just but my tools at Walmart for $4. Now, I cant get my deck out far enough to get the cables off. Anyone know out to that? How can I get to the wires in a 1999 Escort?
