Silver Member Username: MixmastaspigCanada, Canada Canada Post Number: 358 Registered: Sep-05 | Ok I am going to be making a sub box that will fit two 12" Pioneer premier Ts-W302SPL subs. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...020681,00.html Specs and box dimensions: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pi...D1263-A_UC.pdf this gives you reccomended size....and maximum size.....whats the difference? they also suggest putting sound dampening material inside the box.. anyways I plan to use 1" MDF....I do not know what else to use to "seal" the box. Anyone have any step by step general box building tips and materials to use? thanks alot! |

Regarding the 1" MDF wood, you might have a hard time finding that kind of wood, here in canada for us to get 1", you have to buy two pieces of 1/2" MDF wood, and glue/screw them together. for building supplies, get yourself some of those wood clampers, to hold the box realy tight while it glues together, and when you got the clamps on, for the hell of it I put some small course threaded screws through. Rembmer to use bracing techniques, and use a piece of wood to seperate the chambers. |

I'm aiming for an SPL set up to use as a daily driver as well. |

(all in US$) 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" MDF---$25 (3/4" is plenty strong enough) 1 5/8" coarse thread screwes---$5 wood glue---$5 caulk---$2.50 thats ~$37.50 for a basic sealed box (no covering, just bare MDF) |

Silver Member Username: MixmastaspigCanada, Canada Canada Post Number: 370 Registered: Sep-05 | Oh and is it best to build the box to what Pioneer reccomends? or would someone be able to use that fancy computer program and get me specs for a better box?..... thanks |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 2058 Registered: Mar-04 | what kind of sound are you looking for? all out SPL (burp box), deep hitting SQ, or a mix between the two? also, what kind of car do you have? if you want to try the interchangable port thing i use on all my boxes...i'll draw up some stuff for ya. |
Silver Member Username: MixmastaspigCanada, Canada Canada Post Number: 372 Registered: Sep-05 | Interchageable sounds pretty sweet, easy to perform? I am looking for SPL when I compete and deep bass with a bit of SQ for daily driving. And when you say burp box...that strictly for comps right? I drive a 94 Saturn SC2..2 door, moonroof, foldable back seats...its going to get 4 tins of eXvibration....box size is no matter as I dont plan on using my trunk anyways! |
