Gold Member Username: BestmankindLos Angeles, CA USA Post Number: 1946 Registered: Oct-05 | hey chauncey i might buy the arsenals. i emailed them and this is what he said. Thank you for your email. As most of our customers will tell you, I rate our subwoofers very conservatively. I never want people to be unhappy with their setup and I want our subwoofers to last for a very long time. There will undoubtedly be many people using 1000 watts on the Arsenal subwoofers. If you are using the amplifier power for headroom and you watch your gains, you will probably never have a problem. They can handle a lot of power. I just like to recommend completely bulletproof power ratings. There are subwoofers using similar sized voice coils from other manufacturers that list power handling MUCH higher than we do, if that gives you any ideas. |

Gold Member Username: TdbdadrummerWellsburg, WV USA Post Number: 1120 Registered: Aug-05 | You know Chad, I've been trying to pump that information out of the other Chad for days now lol. All I've gotten is that he doesn't suggest DOUBLING the power as Team Toxic Bass suggested. I'm glad to hear that though (I have Assassins), since I thought the subs just weren't all THAT loud (louder than Volfs), but I think it's because 400W RMS isn't enough... |
Gold Member Username: BestmankindLos Angeles, CA USA Post Number: 1948 Registered: Oct-05 | i am really tempted to. but i heard that they don't sound to good at higher frequencies. at least the avalanches didn't. also if i do buy these i figured i could sell my type xs for $100 each. i am also tempted to get a pair of re sx. or maybe i should just save up and get the tis or the idmax like i originally planned. |
Gold Member Username: TdbdadrummerWellsburg, WV USA Post Number: 1125 Registered: Aug-05 | I posted something similar to this on another thread...but... The Assassins sound good low, but the highs needed a bit of tweaking. I'm running them sealed, so I just set the subsonic filter to about 80Hz. I don't know exactly what it did, but the highs started playing a lot louder, while still maintaining the deep lows. |
Silver Member Username: PelonaPost Number: 116 Registered: Dec-05 | 80hz is way too high for a subsonic filter |
Gold Member Username: James1115Wilton, Ct Post Number: 4613 Registered: Dec-04 | are you sure you didnt set our LPF to 80hz tyler? |
Gold Member Username: TdbdadrummerWellsburg, WV USA Post Number: 1137 Registered: Aug-05 | No, I'm sure it was the subsonic...Wait lol...I set the subsonic, but I think I meant to set the LPF. I need to go switch that up later. But yea, my LPF will be set to 80Hz. That's what Isaac set his A8000T to when he was testing, and it sounded good. |
