Gold Member Username: TdbdadrummerPost Number: 1020 Registered: Aug-05 | I need box plans. Sealed box plans. Sealed box plans for 2 12" AA Assassins. I'm going to build the box myself (should be a good time) A few questions: Where do I get box carpet? What type of nails/screws do I need? What type of caulking do I need? What type of wood glue do I need? I need plans that will have step-by-step instructions on how to build it as well. Any help appreciated. |

Caulking as well, what's best? I'll be getting the wood at my local lumber yard, and having them cut it (I don't have the saws to cut it). |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 4888 Registered: Jul-05 | what kind of nails? """ - r u ... u DO NOT use any nails in sub box construction cause they don't hold well @ all . Use coarse thread drywall screws - 2" in .75 mdf or 2.5 in 1" mdf . U can use regular carpenter's glue on joints but i prefer product called LIQUID NAILS which can be used on both joints & 2 caulk with . Buy urself a reg $30 black/decker circular saw & a $30 jigsaw & DIY !!!!!!!..... |

I can cut out the holes...Maybe I can get my grandfather to let me use his table saw...We'll see. Ah, well I'm the kind of person when they got their pre-fab sealed box last time, I double sealed it with regular caulking and rope caulk lol. Not one gram of air got out of that box... Haha, I'm not crazy, just never built a sub box before. After buying the subs, I wouldn't even be able to afford ONE of those saws. But it's all good. So here's what I'm thinking... Cut the wood, cut the holes, that's done. Glue all the joints together, THEN screw? Finally, caulk ok the inside, right? |

Post Number: 4890 Registered: Jul-05 | when i was in my teens anytime i found 6 pieces of wood (happen 2 b plywood) i would build a box & drop in a sub ! -lol sit down & carefully calculate wood 2 be cut out by the home centre ppl & think ahead how the wood would fit depending on how u lap the wood/joints . Remember u need 2 get the xternal dimentions right so that internal volume comes out right , do check what vol the sub itself will occupy .... There r lotsa online sites showing basic box building .... |
